Cherry Grove is one of the most special areas in not just North Myrtle Beach, but the entire Grand Strand. It is the northern most section of our region and is a bit isolated because of the inlet and having no through traffic. Its certainly a destination and one of the most quiet and relaxing sections of the beach. Once folks settle in, its easy to spend the majority of your vacation enjoying one of the most uncrowded beaches with some of the best history around. One of the most common questions we get asked is Where is the best place to eat in Cherry Grove? You wont have to travel far and theres about 16 or so spots where you can enjoy a meal. You cant go wrong with just about anything you choose. They are all pretty good, but here are the top 5 places to eat in Cherry Grove (in no particular order):
- Boulineaus
Boulineaus is not just the oldest and largest beachware, grocery store, meat market, seafood market, bakery, restaurant, and tire center (ok, we made that last one up) around - its a MUST VISIT when you stay in Cherry Grove. Boulineaus has been around since 1948 and has constantly improved and provided whatever visitors and locals need for any situation. For dining, you have to try their lunch or dinner, which features daily specials and some of the best local seafood and country cookin in the area. Us locals flock to this place, so you know its good. Their soup and salad bar is fantastic and features different soups daily (the clam chowder and chili are my personal favs!). Their fried chicken (cooked with Crisco - just like momma used to!) and fried pork chops are perfect for families as well as feeding everyone in a large party. They offer excellent catering packages and have some of the friendliest service. If you are looking for the freshest seafood that was swimming mere hours before it hits your plate, check out nearby Platts - just down the street from their sister store, Boulineaus.
- Snookys
Snookys is located right where Cherry Grove starts on Ocean Blvd. and has oceanfront dining where you can watch the waves as you enjoy fresh, local seafood. Snookys prides itself in having the absolute freshest ingredients and features their own spin on classic seafood dishes. We recommend the peel and eat shrimp, avocado salad, and oysters on the half shell, of course!/p>
- Atlantis Pancake House
Also located at the foot of Sea Mountain Hwy and Ocean Blvd, the Atlantis Pancake House has been serving hearty, delicious breakfasts to visitors, locals, golfers, and fishermen for over 30 years. Simple and just plain good, Atlantis is guaranteed to have something that youll love. They are open from 7 - 1 and offer some great brunch and lunch specials as well. French toast, bacon, eggs, sausage.....mmmmmmmmm!
- The Shack
A true taste of the South at an affordable price - they got that right! Lets get one thing straight from us locals - everyone loves The Shack. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner with daily specials. Although they have only been open since 2010, they have become a fixture in our area due to the friendly service and fresh food. Breakfast has everything from classics bacon, sausage, eggs, pancakes, etc. and also wonderful omelets (try The Shack it has Shrimp, crab, peppers, onions, and tomatoes!). Lunch has excellent burgers, seafood, and country cooking. Dinner specials feature fried and grilled chicken, fish, or pork chops, country fried steak, Spaghetti, and more. If you are looking for a great and quick start to your day, heres a pro tip: stop by the shack and grab a breakfast sandwich to eat on the way home or for a day exploring North Myrtle Beach!
- Roca Roja Cantina
When you go on vacation you want to experience things you cant get at home. Well, here it is! Roca Roja is a very unique Mexican restaurant that is located on the marsh in Cherry Grove, with exceptional views. Its our newest restaurant here and boy does it have pizzazz! Roca Roja prides itself in delivering a memorable taste experience that youll absolutely love. Their takes on traditional Mexican fare are like works of art! Its a wonderful atmosphere that will make for a special evening on your North Myrtle Beach trip! Their Tacos de Arrrachera and Mezcal Flambe Prawns (cooked with caramelized pineapple, tatemado green tomato, red onion, and flamed with Mezcal Union) are definitely a highlight of any trip to Cherry Grove!
Theres also several other great places to eat in Cherry Grove where you can get a quick bite, pizza, or BBQ. Of course, if you dont feel like going out to eat at all, you dont have to! Stop by 3500 Ocean Grill or the Driftwood Restaurant at the Cherry Grove Pier and you can get delicious, fresh food that is expertly prepared right here on property. Its a great time to be in Cherry Grove and at Prince Resort!
